This prestigious designation is awarded to companies which use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems and meet higher standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. Whiteboard joins 2,200 Certified B Corporations globally – including 2 others in Tennessee – that have met the rigorous standards that measure a company’s impact on its employees, suppliers, community, consumers, and environment.

Whiteboard is the only business in Chattanooga, Tennessee to become a Certified B Corporation.

“Since we started in 2010, we’ve aimed to be a creative agency with a purpose. We not only desire to be recognized for our creativity and skillset, but also for our commitment to our team, our partners, our community, and city,” said Whiteboard’s co-founder and CCO, Eric Brown. “We are thrilled to join other socially conscious Certified B Corps and work towards the common goal of using business as a means to do good.”

To become a Certified B Corporation, B Lab, the nonprofit that certifies and supports B Corporations, conducted a rigorous evaluation of Whiteboard and determined the company met comprehensive performance standards to qualify for certification. Whiteboard will join other Certified B Corporations and will be legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their employees, suppliers, community, consumers, and environment.

David Brooks, reporting for the New York Times states, “B Corporations are a way to transcend the contradictions between the ineffective parts of the social sector and myopic capitalism.” B Corp certification is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk.

“Receiving the B Corp Certification confirms Whiteboard’s mission of providing a sound environment for not only our clients, but also our team. We strive to lead by example in educating both clients and employees on socially conscious decisions,” said Whiteboard’s CEO, Taylor Jones.

Today, there are over 2,200 Certified B Corps around the globe, including Patagonia, Etsy, and Warby Parker. “We are proud to join these companies in redefining success in business, so that one day everyone uses business as a force for good.”
